Languages

Our school emphasises the importance of foreign languages. German is studied by all pupils from Year 3 onwards (age 7), unless theytake EAL instead (English as an AdditionalLanguage. Polish is added to the timetable from Year 7 (age 11).

EAL classes are provided for pupils who need to develop their skills in English in order to benefit fully from mainstream class lessons (which are all taught in English). EAL is timetabled during Literacy and foreign languages lessons.

Our older secondary EAL students, as part of University entrance requirements in some countries, can be entered for the TOEFL exam (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or the Cambridge FCE exam (First Certificate in English).

As an international school, we are well aware of the importance of maintaining the mother tongue of our students, many of whom have English as a second language. Consequently, we can make arrangements for students to have lessons in their native language. The cost of these extra lessons are included in school fees.

Our school policy is to encourage enjoyment in the learning of languages, and therefore we also offer extra-curricular language clubs. These will also include classes for parents in Beginner Polish and English.
